Farewell, Marlene. I hope you’re having fun
Teaching the angels how to wear
Vibrating knickers. (Or the demons.
Heaven or Hell, I’m sure you’ll stir it up.)
I hope you’re waited on with admiration
By sweet young things with flowing flasks of booze.
Oh, you’ll hold court in corsets, silks and feathers
And God Herself won’t dare to interrupt.
Notes: Today’s prompt was to write a valediction. It seemed apposite to write one for my friend Maggie, or rather for her alter-ego Marlene Bracegirdle. Both Maggie and Marlene will be much missed.
